PSYCHOTHERAPY WITH GAY MEN
Body Image & Fitness
Your body may feel like a project that is never finished. Comparison, gym culture, aging, weight, muscularity, hair, and sexual attention can become closely tied to confidence and belonging.
What we may work on
Therapy can help you examine body dissatisfaction, compulsive comparison, exercise patterns, fear of aging, eating concerns, and the pressure to meet particular ideals within gay male culture.
A psychodynamic approach
We look at what appearance has come to mean—control, desirability, masculinity, safety, status, or protection from rejection—without dismissing the real social pressures involved.
Start with a conversation.
You don't have to arrive knowing exactly what's wrong. Sometimes you know the problem clearly. Sometimes you just know that something isn't working anymore. If you're considering therapy, reach out. We can begin with a conversation about what has been happening and whether working together makes sense.
