PSYCHOTHERAPY WITH GAY MEN

Self-Esteem & Confidence

You may be competent and accomplished while still feeling inadequate, easily embarrassed, or dependent on reassurance. Confidence can rise and fall with attention, achievement, appearance, or how other people respond to you.

What we may work on

We can examine self-criticism, comparison, shame, assertiveness, people-pleasing, fear of judgment, and the gap between how others see you and how you experience yourself.

A psychodynamic approach

Instead of trying to replace every negative thought with a positive one, we look at how your sense of self developed and why certain situations activate old expectations so strongly.

Start with a conversation.

You don't have to arrive in therapy knowing exactly what's wrong. Sometimes you know the problem clearly. Sometimes you just know that something isn't working anymore. If you're considering therapy, reach out. We can begin with a conversation about what has been happening and whether working together makes sense.
