PSYCHOTHERAPY WITH GAY MEN
Sex & Intimacy
Sex can become complicated by performance anxiety, erectile difficulties, avoidance, shame, differences in desire, or pressure to perform a particular version of masculinity or confidence. Knowing that the problem is psychological does not make it easy to switch off.
What we may work on
Therapy can address performance anxiety, avoidance, desire, communication, sexual confidence, hookup patterns, and the emotional complications of intimacy. We can talk directly about sex without treating it as embarrassing or separate from the rest of your life.
A psychodynamic approach
We look at how anxiety, self-observation, expectations, shame, and relationship patterns enter the sexual situation. The goal is not to force a response, but to understand the conditions that make desire and connection more possible.
Start with a conversation.
You don't have to arrive in therapy knowing exactly what's wrong. Sometimes you know the problem clearly. Sometimes you just know that something isn't working anymore. If you're considering therapy, reach out. We can begin with a conversation about what has been happening and whether working together makes sense.
